Hot 100: Dua Lipa Dances to Top 10 With ‘Barbie’ Soundtrack Hit ‘Dance the Night’

Much like Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice‘s ‘Barbie World‘ before it, Dua Lipa‘s ‘Dance the Night‘ – the lead single from the star-studded Barbie‘ movie soundtrack – has taken tenancy in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100.

Billboard took to press Monday (August 7) to report ‘Dance’ had sashayed to the #10 spot of the updated Hot 100.

Released May 25, the Andrew Wyatt and Mark Ronson-produced cut cracked the chart’s top 40 just a month later before hopping into the top 20 last week thanks to the boosts of the release of its parent film and album.

As the ‘Barbie’ movie’s success continues globally (recently passing the $1B mark), so have its singles – Minaj’s ‘Barbie World’ (found at #8), Billie Eilish‘s ‘What Was I Made For?‘ (inside the top 20), and Lipa’s ‘Dance.’

Here are the numbers that fueled the latter’s ascent.

  • Streaming: 15.3 million U.S.-based streams
  • Digital Downloads: 6,000 sold
  • Radio Airplay: 42.3 million audience impressions

Coming as the fifth top 10 hit of her career, ‘Dance’ joins ‘Cold Heart (Pnau Remix),’ ‘Levitating,’ Don’t Start Now,’ and ‘New Rules‘ as the GRAMMY winner’s highest-charting hits to date.

    Finally! Don’t Start Now and Levitating should’ve went to number 1 because, that was a big head scratcher for me to this day. Happy for her though! Dance the night is definitely a bop! DL3 is finally on the way. New single more likely coming late in the fall….early winter!
